Executive Representative of the UN Secretary General Visits WHO Country Office
The Executive Representative of the UN Secretary General (ERSG) in Sierra Leone, Mr Michael Von-der Schulenburg made a working visit to the WHO Country Office on 19 May 2011. The purpose of his visit was to be updated on the work of WHO and interact with Staff Members.
In welcoming the ERSG, Dr W. Alemu said “as a specialized agency of UN, WHO provides technical support to the govern-ment and other agencies participating in the health sector in line with its core functions and mandate.” Dr Alemu expressed his appreciation to ERSG for his continued support and personally championing “equitable and affordable health care delivery” as part of the joint UN vision and for challenging WHO to acceler-ate Malaria Control which eventually led to the achievement of “Universal Access to treated mosquito net”.
